GRATITUDE

Do you believe in Gratitude? Are you a believer in the theory of No Sorry and No Thank You? Do you have this habit of saying Thank You where it was really needed or you rather avoid this word?

Have you ever imagined how important these two words are? Do you feel, it is a formality if someone says Thank You or Sorry? I personally never gave much thought to it. But with the passage of time and some incidents in my life, I feel that it is extremely important to show gratitude and say sorry when it is needed.

Ever wondered just saying Thank You helps or when you actually mean it? The beautiful feeling of being thankful is Gratitude. How often do you feel thankful from within? Showing gratitude towards your life will definitely transform your life. There are endless ways to practice Gratitude and it does have numerous benefits too.

“Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it”

William Arthur Ward

How you begin your day plays an important role in how your entire day will be.

I usually start and end my day by being grateful to God for everything he has given me. There are days when I feel its too hard to deviate from negative thoughts or various tensions. But still, I try not to let my mind wander and think happy positive thoughts in the morning.

  • I begin each day by being thankful to God for my husband, my family, my in-laws and my friends. Without their support, I wouldn’t be living the life I live.
  • If you have gratitude within yourself which is a feeling of thankfulness, then it can mend your broken relationships and improve your existing relationships.
  • Your mood affects you and all around you. When you pay attention to minute details in life and start showing gratitude you become happy.
  • It will take a while to start feeling it from within and practice it. As they say, practice makes a man perfect. If you wish to change your life, gratitude is the key. The universe will always give you more than you asked for only if you are thankful for what you have.
  • A small exercise you can do is to maintain a diary and writing in it every day whatever you are grateful for. Make a list of 5 things you are grateful for either in the morning or before going to bed at night.

Heal your mind & body with the best medicine: Gratitude

  • You can take an empty box or a jar and at the end of each day write one thing you are grateful for on it, fold it and put it in it. On special occasions/every new month or year open it. You will be surprised how much difference little things in life can make.
  • It doesn’t have to be a very big thing. A small act or gesture someone does for you or you do it for someone, does count. For eg., your friend brought you your favorite food. Be thankful for it. Show your gratefulness. Your gestures will definitely make his day.
  • Apparently, we all have become so busy in our lives that we are forgetting what God or the universe is giving us. The universe is full of abundance and is like a genie. You will receive what you ask for. Be sure your affirmations are positive. For eg, If I want a raise in my salary, I will ask the universe, “Increase my salary” instead of cribbing all the time by saying, “My salary doesn’t increase”. Be thankful to the universe for what you have. Avoid the word – No/Don’t/Can’t.
  • Putting this to your morning daily routine or your bedtime routine can do wonders for you. Don’t expect anything in return. Focus on your blessings. People who practice gratitude perform well in life.
  • How we speak with others will make a difference in their lives too. Small words of kindness can actually make someone’s day.

“Gratitude is the healthiest of all human emotions. The more you express gratitude for what you have, the more likely you will have even more to express gratitude for”

Zig Ziglar

So today, what are you grateful for?
