Pure Vegetarian

My journey of being a Vegetarian started in January 2017. Starting a diet that consists of plants and fiber was a huge challenge for me. But I told myself, nothing is impossible.

I have been eating non-veg food since my childhood. I used to love egg. Every day was egg day for me. Having a boiled egg gave me so much energy throughout the day. The idea of eating out or going out, I used to only look at Non- Veg menu. I was the type of Vegetarian who used to avoid eating Non-Veg only on Tuesdays, auspicious days and festivals.

In January 2017, I finally gave up Non-Veg. I had no clue how I would do it and what if I have cravings? But with the passage of time, I did not crave for it. I started feeling active and better. I shed so much weight. My stomach used to get upset very often, that also stopped. People used to question me that why did I stop eating Non-Veg ? or will I ever start eating it again?

I was also aware of the fact that my body will be deficient in some vitamins for sure. As Non-Veg diet provided me with certain nutrients, which I would no longer receive. But then I ate foods which would compensate for the deficiencies and had more energy-giving foods.

With regular check-ups, it was clear in my mind that this is my way of life now. It is a lifestyle change which I thought was challenging at first. The unconditional love of my husband and support of my family made it possible for me. I am extremely thankful to them for being there and supporting me in this decision.

It is July 2019 and I am off Non-Veg diet completely. I am happy and content. It doesn’t feel as if I am missing something in my life.

I would like to tell you some health benefits of turning vegetarian:

  • You will be way away from diseases and will feel as if your body has been cleansed.
  • When all the toxins are removed from your body, your body starts creating lean muscles instead of fat.
  • You will realize that your fat is melting away. As Non-Veg food takes longer time to digest as compared to Veg food.
  • Eating a well balanced nutritional diet will help maintain your sugar and cholesterol levels.
  • Vegetarians tend to live a longer life.

As rightly said, “Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of life on Earth as much as the evolution to a Vegetarian Diet,”
