6 Years ago today, i.e, 21st May 2014 early morning, We lost our Pet – “CANDY“.
Thinking of her today and how she brought immense happiness in our lives, this goes out just for her.
Well, it was our vacation time, Autumn Break in school when she was brought home by my aunt and my sister. I still remember standing outside in the balcony when they brought her in, she was so tiny that I didn’t even realize that they brought her.
They called me to see the surprise, and there she was sitting at the corner unaware of where she is. I fell in love with her the moment I saw her. She was the size of my palm when she came. The very first week we had her, she used to make little sounds at night, then I used to pick her up, calm her, and she slept on me. The bond which I developed with her in that very week is beyond words.

We named her Candy. She was like a furball, she really made sure she would take and give love to everyone in the house. She behaved very well and loved unconditionally. I don’t know, I feel pets have a way of knowing if you are sad or unwell. At such times, she used to be extra clingy. She always would change the mood we were in by her cuteness.
Always in my heart
The trips to the doctor were always very tough for me. I just couldn’t see her in pain. Once I fainted during her blood test. I was overprotective of her, that’s why seeing her hurt even a bit, affected me.
I still remember, when I had my holidays and we could sleep till late, she would sleep right next to me, keeping her head on the same pillow, back to back. And till the time I got up she would neither feel hungry till then nor feel the urge to pee and would simply keep sleeping with me. When I was out, I couldn’t wait to go back and meet her.

Candy has been a beautiful part of my life and we all have numerous memories with her. All our friends and relatives loved her. She used to love eating all crispy crunchy things. She loved playing with her toys and was very possessive about them. Candy was possessive even for us, when some relatives came to our house she just wouldn’t let them even shake hands with us.
Not just a pet
She used to be a part of all our celebrations and festivals. On Diwali, at the time of evening puja, she used to sit with us in the mandir. Candy was not just a pet, but our family member.

Candy came in our lives, got love from us, and loved us unconditionally. My cousin and Candy shared the same birthday i.e, 22nd September. We used to celebrate her birthday too every year. She loved having Vanilla ice cream, so that definitely came on her birthday along with gifts for her like a new leash with a bell, some toys, and sticks to eat. We used to put a clip on her forehead so it made it easier for her to see properly. I guess, God gave us dogs as pets as he knew we would need guardian angels. Candy was my guardian angel.
She lived with us for 12 years. I feel, she lived a wonderful life at least we tried our best to give her that. She had gotten really old and wasn’t keeping too well. 6 years ago, today early morning she passed away. The feeling cannot be described when we saw her not moving or responding when we called her name.
She really took a piece of my heart with her. Since then, we never had the courage to adopt another pet. I don’t know if I will ever be able to. But I guess, no matter if another pet comes or not. Getting a new pet will never replace her, EVER.

Dogs are love. I can’t explain how incredibly selfless they are. Pure unconditional love. Fur balls. My rocky is my vanilla icecream my teddy. My love.
